Dear friends and family, I do not have a ton of time to write and I am feeling pretty sick today, but I will attempt to do an adequate job of describing the week. We have had some awesome visits with the members in the ward and it is so nice to be able to get to know them and help them out with everything they needed. One of the highlights of the week was our lesson with a wonderful man named John Whaley. We were visiting his neighbors who are members a while back and we decided to knock on his door. He received us very kindly and extraordinarily positively. We set up a return appointment for this past week. As we taught him the steps of the restoration of the gospel we were able to explain according to his understanding on each point. However, one thing stood out to us when we were visiting with him. Since our first visit he had done a faith flip (or turned to a random page to see were the spirit brought him) and the specific scripture he found was Helaman 5:12: And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall. We really like using this scripture as we teach people and it was wonderful to see the spirit lead Mr. Whaley to this scripture. Anyways, other than those things we went to a Dia de Naciones party. It was super fun and the food was fantastic! We ended up having a fun day seeing different cultures and people gathered for the event. Thank you for all you love and support, bless you all! Dear all yall, This week was really good but it certainly had its own bit of trial. We commerce elders had a pretty rough cold go around which made it a little hard to set up lessons, but in an odd twist of fate most of our lessons ended up canceling so we didn't end up getting anyone else sick. Anyways, the interesting stuff. Last Tuesday was really uplifting and genuinely awesome! We had zone conference which was a wonderful opportunity to be able to receive some amazing trainings and to be edified by the spirit. One thing that was kind of funny was that I was asked to be the chorister and right when we started I realized I was told the incorrect hymn. After I finished frantically rummaging for the actual page number it ended up being a very sweet and wonderful rendition of 'I Believe in Christ". Right after Zone conference we had interviews which were very nice and it was great to be able to meet with the president of the mission (President Harris). On Wednesday we had a wonderful lesson with a man named Carlos right after our English Class. He is a devout Catholic, but he seems to be interested in our beliefs. On Thursday we did service for Bishop Walker and we helped put in new flooring in his house which took a long time, but it was good (at this point in time we thought we were going to stop being sick). Elder Schern also got his 2nd Covid Shot that day. Friday was kind of interesting because we had a surprise exchange with the Winder Zone Leaders. Elder Schern was not feeling well due to the shot and we had a ton of service and an important lesson we needed to go to that day so we asked our Zone Leaders if they would be willing to come over to Commerce to help out. They are also in a trio so it ended up being four people in Commerce and 2 people in Winder. I was the lucky guy chosen to go to Winder that day so I got to spend my first day in a duo. It was honestly pretty awesome and we taught some good lessons while I was over there. Other than that, I got this awesome portrait of myself at this Flea Market called La Vaquita. The artist was very talented and I love how it turned out. (it was also relatively cheap so that's always nice!) I've gotta go so I'll send photos separately again. Love you all! Dear y'all, This week has been filled with really good work, awesome experiences, and all that good stuff. Last Tuesday we did a LOT of passing out flyers for our English Class and generally contacting previously taught friends. However, as I was about to flyer one house, there a large pig sleeping on the doormat blocking my path to the doorway. The picture I took was not very good, but it was a door squatting pig nonetheless. On Wednesday We had our actual English class and only one person showed up... which ended up being fine because we taught him individually the things he needed and then we taught him about the gospel which was great! I also was gifted two jack o'lanterns from Bishop Walker's sons (Bishop Walker is the Bishop of the Commerce Ward). On Thursday, we did MORE English Class Flyers!!!! However, I encountered this awesome 15 foot Skeleton and we taught one of our friends named Miranda. She is awesome and has been really receptive to the gospel. When came on Thursday we checked in to see if she had kept her commitment to read a chapter from the Book of Mormon. Not only had she read the one chapter, but she had read 1 Nephi all the way up to Alma 30!!! WOOOAHAHA!! We continued with lesson two and she is wanting to be baptized in the future. On Saturday we met a man named David from Cuba and talked very impassionately about the need for liberty in his country. It personally made me very thankful for the rights and opportunities we have here in America. Lastly, on Sunday we had a very cool experience. One family we talked to in the week for English Class we had also invited them to our Ward's Spanish group. They actually showed up and it was fantastic! Afterwards we taught them about the restoration of the gospel with our group leader and it was a very uplifting and nice I love you all so much and I hope that everything in your lives go well!! Sincerely, Elder Nicholas Nephi William Schindler

Letter dated 4Oct2021

Good afternoon yall! For this week we had some pretty interesting changes! My trainer has sadly left us the commerce district and was replaced by Elder Schern, a very wonderful and dedicated missionary/companion. Much of this week has included finding and contacting people which has been really exhilarating and we are looking forward to many scheduled lessons this coming week. For the most part this week did not have a ton of interesting developments until general conference, so I will name the most stand out things. I got a pumpkin for the sake of Halloween and I think my skeleton sitting on it looks rather dapper. I finally ate the deer burger we got from that service project and it was delicious!!! I highly recommend deer burgers to anyone. And yeah it was a good week leading up to conference. Meanwhile, general conference, was amazing! On Saturday however, instead of spending the day listening to uplifting and spiritual messages we got caught up in an interesting service project. We were supposed to help move this one lady before general conference but her u-haul ended up canceling on her last minute so we had to show up later while the morning session was going on. While there we had to move most of her possessions since none of them were boxed up and ended up moving her for 5 hours. Normally I would have been okay with this, but there were many rats and mice crawling around and generally it was a very dirty house, but that's okay because we still did something good. I have did get this one photo from the house which was kind of fun though Anyways, love you all, I hope everything goes well for you all! Sincerely, Elder Nicholas Nephi William Schindler
